The Picky Eater Patrol

We’ve all been worried that our toddlers, who can’t seem to finish even half a cracker, aren’t getting enough food. We’ve also all been exasperated trying to get those same toddlers to try new fruits and vegetables. Sometimes it’s hard to get your kid to eat, so what can you do? There are a few things I always did with my kids, and they worked like a charm. Maybe they’ll help you out, too. One, always give your children a new food to try only when they are hungry. Not only are you making it more likely that they’ll be willing to try it, but all food tastes better when you’re hungry. This isn’t just a rule with kids, though–this works on pretty...

My piece of parenting advice.

Before you know it, that pricy little outfit will be way too small, and you’ll end up donating it or handing it down. It’s not like when you buy a pair of nice pants–with any luck, they’ll fit you for years. Kids have a knack for ruining clothes, or just plain growing up (no matter how often we tell them not to!). DO spend money on nutritious food. Your baby is...

So your kid doesn’t like broccoli?

Every parent hears it, right? “I don’t like vegetables!” Some children are pretty easy about it, but others fight you until they’re blue in the face, holding their little noses away from a plate where their peas touch their potatoes. But dinner doesn’t have to be a battle, and there are ways you can make vegetables fun. Trust me, everyone at the table will be a little bit happier if your four-year-old isn’t griping about his greens. Try these tricks to take vegetables and make them exciting! Trees and Snow Okay, so this one is specific to broccoli only, and you could probably find a clever way to use cauliflower, too. Playing make-believe is a really good...
